With Spring and Easter filling the air, this post will turn inward.
When we got to retire, everything in life slowed down and allowed time to “research, look into and study the bibile and all it holds.” Coincidentally, THE CHOSEN SERIES hit the web and the TV screens around the US and the world. While I have always believed, lifted thanks and prayers; I was hit - and have been deepening my faith walk ever since. We all are so caught up in the busyness of life (and the lies of this world,) I haven't taken the time to actually “Study the Bible.”
Now, I endeavor to do a “Verse of the Day through the Bible App." So, not just the verse - but then just below it is a very short 2 minute overview of it's meanings. Eventually, I hit the button below that that gives you even a bit more.
This have been going on for over 8 years now. I am not perfect or above, a broken - flawed person. Please enjoy this and read on.
The Chosen Series was amazing - so many episodes - the tears wouldn't stop. You really can relate to these people, actors and characters they play. The writing continues to be amazing! The Characters are all filled with personality and you actually relate to them. They are not stiff and lifeless, but you get to laugh at them and with them as they are “INVITED - FOLLOW ME!” I encourage and emplore you to watch all of it!
This is where I met Rabbi Jason Sobel. He is a Messianic Jew - who beleives Jesus is our Messiah. The Chosen sought out bible scholars from all points of view and faith backgrounds. His knowledge and insight to the Old Testament (and New) is amazing. He teaches you the meanings behind it all. He has published several books (I have read almost all.) His explaination of “YOU NEED THE OLD, TO UNDERSTAND THE NEW" hits the nail on the head. I am now a follower of his and support his ministry with a token donation that allows me to access his teaching library. WOW !!!!!!!!!! DOESN'T BEGIN TO COVER IT.
He does a Verse of the OT weekly and explains in depth the meanings of “all those words” in the bible. I am so uninformed and yes, ignorant - I need it explained to me. The Bible is a Love Story between a Father, His Son and all of HIS creations. The first sentance in the OT “in the Beginning.” The Letter B. hold on to it. The last word in the bible is Amen. The B and ‘en - spell out BEN - WHICH MEANS SON! His Son, Jesus.
I have now over these years - been throught the Torah (first 5 books of the bible) 4 times with Rabbi Jason. He along the way in the weekly segment discusses the bits and pieces of the rest of the OT. Now, I figured 4 times is enough.
So, I have hunted around in the many Bible Study Plans in the BIBLE APP and have found the “Through the Word" series. The insignia is Orange, all Orange and has a flame like emblem. I am going through the NEW TESTAMENT from beginning to end. I began obviously with Matthew 1 and I just finished Acts. I enjoyed Rabbi for the OT and now really enjoy this narrator.
Folks, as simple as I can describe it with out sounding like a nut, is that this walk is drawing me deeper and deeper! Joyfully! Happily and reading all of this WITH UNDERSTANDING HAS BEEN PROFOUND. Not a sermon at a church, I don't go! Between THE CHOSEN SERIES, the new DAVID SERIES in Prime and the programing on our now favorite tv “station" that we stream - “TRINITY BROADCAST NETWORK" OR TBN - there is a whole new attitude, outlook of HOPE and Joy that I want to invite you to discover. God is in charge (he uses anyone HE chooses - like 4 fishermen and tax collectors to change the world.) There is a ton of negativity in the media. Try something new. It doesn't have to be or feel hopeless. Open your EYES to SEE and EARS to HEAR the invitation to develope A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. This is what HE desires. Walk in Peace - but don't be stupid. Walk in Hope but don't be foolish. SEEK HIM AND HE WILL ANSWER!
So, Easter lies before us. Rabbi Jason does a PASSOVER / MEANING OF PASSOVER - MEAL - a Sedar - AND it is on TBN. I would like to invite you watch.
THE CHOSEN - Season 5 just opened in the Theater. But, I encourge you to watch from the beginning and yes, the Christmas episodes too! They are so very well done! All of it.
From a very broken, saved, flawed and forgiven person,
Have a Blessed Easter Sunday!
Debra
