Ok, I talk about the fun stuff the vast majority of the time. Here is a bit of a personal one. I am writing this one as there may be one of you facing something like this right now. I hope it helps!
I know many people who use a C-Pap device. I have never been able to visualize sleeping in one as I am such a light sleeper to begin with. (that should have been a red flag…. but we all know how that goes.) So when my doctor told me they wanted to do the sleep study my anxiety started to creep up (confession.) Sleep Apnea is exactly what they were looking for.
Several many that reported using them told me that they loved their C-Pap machine. This became something I had to hold on to as the days went by and the results were in and doc went on to say….. You need a C-Pap.
OK - now the self counseling started. You have to keep an open mind. Several report loving them. FEAR of the Unknown was never more true.
Have you heard this “acronym?”
F = False E = Evidence A = Appearing R = Real
Well it was very true….. even as I drove to pick up the device. I arrived for orientation and set up. You get to pick out the mask style that fits how you sleep. I selected the nose only, minimal coverage with the hose up top of your head. I am a side sleeper and have my hands near my face. I didn’t want the hose near my hands - eliminating something to fuss with and potentially wake me up.
I can report that I have now completed 2 nights with the set up and I am not struggling at all. As a matter of fact. I slept from about midnight to 6 am last night. The “fear” is gone. I had to laugh - my husband Dene said he “thought I was dead” as I was so quiet….. yes, I usually snore.
So, just goes to show you - We All have fears that we need to overcome. There are things that once you face them, they dissolve.
Moral of the Story - Conquer your fear, face the demon and be an Overcomer!
If you are facing a demon this week - face the fear and it will disappear!
Cheers for now!
