From the frenzy of Paris the peaceful coastline. While driving out of Paris was cumbersome, once out we navigated to Villerville and Hotel Bellevue. It lies to the right of Doueville and left of Honfluer. A tiny village. Checked in and watched the sunset. With no restaurants open, we had cheese crackers and prosciutto. Yes, there was wine.
We drove to Doueville for lunch on the water. Afterwards, I worked more on my sketch. Photographed to finish later, we drove around a bit. Dene located the horse track there. Snapped a couple pictures.
The next day we went to Honfluer. There was a tall ship in the harbor, reminiscent of the “black pearl!” For the pirate in all of you. Amusing to watch it maneuvering I to place - clearly an engine somewhere. Dene looked it up, built in 2010!
We then traveled to the Normady beaches. Omaha and the American Cemetery. The visitor center and museum. Need to pay respe t to those who game all, allowing us to live FREE. These young men and women were 18 to …. Evil was halted and France was liberated.
The local cheese is wonderful. We brought a soft cooler, squished into the luggage. For such. Packed up, back to Paris to catch the high-speed train to Avignon.
My Colorado friends and others may remember the old song - Wolf Creek Pass - telephone poles going by 10 to the x power. The train travels as fast as 200 mph! Arrived Avignon, spent the night before grabbing the car.
Avignon and on to L'isle sur de Sorge - stay tuned!
Cheers!
